Yu Zhongbo chaired the 29th meeting of the Asia-Pacific Steering Committee of the UNESCO IHP

From February 19^th to 22^nd, the 29^th meeting of the Regional Steering Committee for Asia and the Pacific (RSC) of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Hydrological Program (UNESCO IHP) and the 5^th RSC Catalog of Hydrologic Analysis International Symposium (5^th RSC Catalog of Hydrologic Analysis, CHA Workshop) were held in Tsukuba, Japan. The meeting was chaired by the Chairman of the Intergovernmental Hydrological Program of UNESCO, the Chairman of the Asia-Pacific Steering Committee, and the director of State Key Laboratory of Hydrology-Water Resources and Hydraulic Engineering-Professor Zhongbo Yu. Experts and scholars from more than 20 countries attended the meeting online and offline.

IHP and RSC are not only the high-level forums jointly sponsored by international authoritative institutions, but also an intergovernmental cooperation mechanism with the theme of water in the United Nations system, representing high-level international academic frontiers and levels in the field of hydrology. At the 29^th meeting of the RSC on the 21^st, Chairman Zhongbo Yu introduced the situation of the 25^th UNESCO Intergovernmental Hydrological Program Council Meeting and the implementation progress of the 9^th phase of the strategic plan (IHP-IX, 2022-2029). Subsequently, the member states of the IHP Asia-Pacific region made work reports. The Chinese delegation introduced the activities and achievements in scientific research and innovation, education, cooperation, and exchanges over the past year, including the establishment of the UNESCO-Ministry of Water Resources Cooperation Action Plan. The meeting discussed possible host countries for the 30^thand 31^st RSC meetings and related meetings (2023, 2024). Finally, the preparations for the upcoming UN Water Conference and the 10^th International Water Forum in March 2023 were introduced.
