Prof. Yu Zhongbo attended the Technical Steering Meeting of the Bureau Members of UNESCO IHP

Professor Yu Zhongbo was invited to attend the Technical Steering Meeting of the Bureau Members of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Hydrological Programme (UNESCO IHP) and the Water Family Meeting, which was held from 17 to 18 April 2024 at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris.

At the Technical Guidance Meeting of the IHP Bureau members held on 17 April, the Secretariat took the opportunity to introduce and summarise the recent work of the Bureau. The Bureau members then discussed the governance of the IHP and the implementation of the IHP Phase IX plan, in order to prepare for the online meeting with the UNESCO Water Family on the following day. Prof. Yu Zhongbo respectfully suggested that IHP might benefit from strengthening its cooperation on global water science, water education and water governance in order to contribute to the achievement of the UN's water-related sustainability goals. Following the meeting, Prof. Yu Zhongbo and the Bureau had the honour of being received by Ms Lidia Arthur Brito, Assistant Director-General of UNESCO.

The following day, during an online meeting with the UNESCO Water Family, Prof. Yu Zhongbo was invited to join the Advisory Board of the Scientific Symposium. After the meeting, Prof. Yu Zhongbo was received by Ambassador Yang Xinyu, representative of China to UNESCO, who encouraged him to continue to promote all aspects of the hydrological programme and to enhance the international impact of hydrology in China.
