Prof. Yu Zhongbo was invited to attend the 10th World Water Forum and give a keynote speech

The Tenth World Water Forum was held inBali, Indonesia, from 20 to 24 May, co-hosted by the World Water Council andthe Government of Indonesia. The theme of the conference was "Water forShared Prosperity". Heads of state, heads of international organisations,senior government officials, experts, academics, entrepreneurs and economistsfrom around the world attended the forum and shared their knowledge, experiencesand practices related to water. Prof. Yu Zhongbo, Chief Scientist of theNational Key Laboratory of Water Hazard Defense of Hohai University, wasinvited to attend the meeting and deliver a keynote speech.

Prof. Yu Zhongbo pointed out in his reportthat global water security and sustainability issues under climate change arebecoming more and more prominent, and to solve these issues, it is necessary tocontinuously strengthen the cooperation between academia, government andindustry, and IHP aims to promote international exchanges in global waterscience, water education and water governance to promote the realization of theUN's water-related sustainability goals. Finally, he advocated furtherdeepening water science research and strengthening capacity building for youngscientists to collectively address global water security challenges.

The World Water Forum is the largestgathering of water-related multi-stakeholders. The meeting was divided intothree major thematic processes, namely "Political Process","Issues Process" and "Regional Process", to facilitateall-round communication and exchange. Six priority issues were discussed indepth: water security and prosperity; water for human and natural uses;disaster reduction; and water security. The Forum addressed a number of keyissues, including water security and prosperity; water for people and nature;disaster risk reduction and management; governance, cooperation and waterdiplomacy; international water finance; and knowledge and innovation. In additionto the plenary sessions, a number of side events were held, including the WorldWater Fair and Water Expo.
